TD CANADA TRUST

This non-typical branch was the second TD branch built in the growing community of Wasaga Beach. The design was modified from the standard Beacon branch to respond to the design themes of the extensive development of which this branch is a part. It was the developer’s desire to have all of the retail sector of the development have a similar vocabulary of forms and finishes. This was reinforced by the Town of Wasaga Beach who viewed this development as a “gateway” to the town.

The design intent was to simplify and modernize the elements commonly used in a standard branch. The drive-thru canopy remains as an extension of the sign band. A wrap-around canopy was provided to assist and invite the pedestrian traffic. The signature TD tower has remained but it has been updated in form and moved off of the roof of the building to provide a covered entrance.

Inside, the branch is dominated by a 2-storey high banking hall with a sloped roof and translucent clerestory windows that create a spacious and inviting atmosphere for both the staff and the clients. This reintroduction of the “grand banking hall” has been very positively received by everyone who has experienced the space.
